Uilleann Bagpipes

Sometime back in 2000, I was handed the Riverdance video, on which a fellow named Brian O 'Brien played a lament called "Caoineadh Chu Chulainn" . I was hooked. It was that tune that caused me to pursue Uilleann pipes: I knew that I had to buy Uilleann pipes, and play them, or at least die trying. I ended up buying a new practice set from Bruce Childress in 2001complete with a fully mounted chanter, stag antler mounts, in Blackwood, and that is the set I currently own. I have since placed an order for a half-set upgrade, and it is scheduled to be completed in early 2007. Man....waiting is hard!

**Waiting is finally over!**

The half set is here & it's a blast!

Pix to follow....

Practice progress(they sure sound a lot worse when you play em back)

What are Uilleann pipes?

My first attempt at recording my practice set. (approx 2001)

It's pretty pitchy in the 2nd octave, but once I master reed stability etc,

this will make a nice dramatic tune.

The best Uilleann forum going
